Pamela Tom Honored with Distinguishing Awards
Pamela Tom, ANR Sea Grant Extension Program academic coordinator located in the Food Science and Technology Department at UC Davis, is the recipient of three distinguishing awards during the past year:
- Member of the Year of the Institute of Food Technologists International Division (ID), an international award honoring an ID member “for their merits and the evidence of exceptional leadership and achievements within the ID.”
- Chinese Association of Food Scientists Professional Achievement Award which recognizes a “professional member for his/her outstanding contributions to the field of food science and engineering, as it relates to teaching, research, extension, administration, or leadership in the food industry.”
- Atlantic Fisheries Technologists Conference Earl P. McFee Award, an international award representing “a unique professional distinction with outstanding and extraordinary qualifications and experience with respect to his or her overall contributions in the field of seafood science and technology.” Her citation notes that she “epitomizes the principles of AFTC by fostering of better understanding and greater cooperation among seafood industry members, government officials and academics concerned with human health, welfare and fisheries.”
